Kitchen Remodeling in Phoenix: Choosing the Right Contractor

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

You’ve decided your kitchen needs a new look. And why not? When you think of how much of your life is spent in your kitchen – making your morning coffee, seeing the kids off to school, talking with family while making dinner, entertaining guests – the kitchen is the central hub of your home.

Now that you’ve decided on kitchen remodeling in Phoenix to give a new look to your countertops and kitchen cabinets, your first call should be to Republic West. They bring high quality workmanship and materials, and an unparalleled level of honesty and integrity to every job, whether it is for window replacement or kitchen remodeling in Phoenix.

In Phoenix there are dozens of companies that offer “cheap solutions” to renovating your kitchen; the reason for this is the way in which they acquire their materials and workers. Cheaper materials are lower quality and will require replacement much sooner. Sub-contractors will be hired to do your renovation, as the company you signed with found their work bid to be the lowest. Once you have signed the work order, however, it can take months for them to show up at your house to start the project. In the meantime, if their sub-contractor gets higher paying work, they can abandon your kitchen for weeks or months. Stories of this happening are widespread in the industry, and the reason home remodeling gives so many people headaches.

This is not the way Republic West does business, and our customers have always shown their appreciation for it. While the industry standard for receiving repeat and referral business has maintained an average of 4% to 5%, over 50% of Republic West’s business comes from referrals and repeat customers. Our customers always walk away happy with the remodeling experience and the results of our work. But more importantly, they trust Republic West’s ethics. The goal of every quote is to provide the best price for their high quality work. For this, customers receive the highest-quality materials, installed by our own Republic West craftsmen, who will finish the job and return your house to normal faster than some subcontractor you’ve never heard of and never hired yourself.

For a sound investment in kitchen remodeling in Phoenix or resurfacing your counters and kitchen cabinets, the best solution is Republic West.

Choosing a Kitchen Cabinets Refacing Contractor, Part 2

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

In part 1 of this post we discussed why kitchen cabinets refacing is easy, cost-effective and can be done quickly if you choose the right kitchen cabinets refacing contractor.

Ask about their license and any organization that the contractor belongs to, such as the Better Business Bureau. Also ask if they have testimonials from other kitchen cabinet refacing customers. Then check out their Web site and make sure they are who they say they are.

Experience counts. Find out how long the company has been in business. Not that a new contractor cannot be good, but they will have to convince you why their work is superior to their competitors and why they can handle the challenges that may arise.

Finally, invite them to your home to look over your kitchen cabinet refacing project and offer solutions. Observe them while they examine your home and consider if they seem knowledgeable and trustworthy. Find out what types of products they use.  For instance, do they order unfinished doors and finish them in house or do they order from a company who uses state of the art equipment to finish and catalyse the finish so it will look like furniture.  Make sure you discuss exactly what the finished kitchen should look like so there is no miscommunication. If they seem knowledgeable and trustworthy you may want to consider moving forward with your kitchen cabinet refacing project.

If you do not feel comfortable with the contractor at this stage you should continue looking. Professionals answer questions and return phone calls even if it means they have to do a little more work, these are the type of kitchen cabinet refacing contractors you want working for you. This contractor will be in your home for a number of intense days so you want to find someone you trust, is knowledgeable and you get along with to help you through this process. If you choose the right contractor you will be breathing easy and enjoying your new stylish cabinets in a short amount of time.

Choosing a Kitchen Refacing Contractor, Part 1

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Kitchen refacing is an important home improvement upgrade because the most important area of your house may be the kitchen. Your kitchen is where you cook your meals and your family and friends gather. Due to the fact that your kitchen gets so much use shouldn’t it be state-of-the-art. This article will discuss how to choose a refacing contractor and how kitchen refacing will save you time and money while resulting in a beautifully remodeled kitchen.

Kitchen refacing is easy, cost-effective and can be done relatively quickly and ultimately will give you the kitchen of your dreams.

If your kitchen cabinets are of solid construction, properly attached to the wall and level you can have your kitchen upgraded to the kitchen of your dreams and save a lot of money by simply acquiring the services of a kitchen refacing contractor. Cabinet refacing allows you to update your kitchen in almost any color or style imaginable.

Hiring a kitchen refacing contractor will allow you to get the job done professionally quickly and with minimal downtime. The following is information on how to choose a refacing contractor.

Get referrals or research online to find companies who have done a lot of refacing work in your area and who get rave reviews.  Anyone can say they do refacing but the truth is, it takes a talented laminator to be able to use wood products and apply them seamlessly to your existing cabinet boxes.  There are a lot of refacing installers who do not have the experience or talent to make your kitchen look like new.  A friend, neighbor or relative may have had their kitchen refaced and can either refer or even NOT refer the company they used.  No matter what people say or you think, refacing is an intricate process done by a highly skilled professional who will make your kitchen look newly remodeled without changing the floor plan.

Ensure they service your area. You do not want to spend a lot of time talking to an individual and then find out they do not service your area. Once you are sure the kitchen refacing contractor services your area, contact them and ask them the questions on your list.

Republic West to Hold Yard Sale Supporting Eileen Rogers’ “Big Wish”

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Since we started Republic West back in 1995, we have made it a priority to “give back” to the community regularly. It is a part of our culture that makes us proud.

This year, our community outreach program has adopted Eileen Roger’s “Big Birthday Wish” and we are fully committed to helping Eileen reach her goal of building a school in Mali. On February 22, 2010, we will hold a yard sale and all proceeds will go to benefit the Big Wish.

We need your help to support The Big Wish! We are asking you to donate your unused or unwanted items for the Republic West yard sale.

Please take a moment to read about the “Big Wish.” “The Big Wish” is to build a 90-student, two-classroom, brick and cement school and related projects in the Mali village of Tourari, located approximately 10 miles west of Timbuktu.

While many people celebrate milestones with a big trip to a faraway place or an extravagant party, Eileen Rogers has chosen to celebrate her 50th birthday this year to raise funds to build a school in Mali, a landlocked country in West Africa.  Those of us close to Eileen are not at all surprised because we have always admired and been inspired by her commitment to giving to those less fortunate than her. She is an inspiration.

To join Republic West in their support of “The Big Wish” please donate items for our yard sale or visit www.turtlewill.org/donate.php and make a donation.

Choosing a Stainless Steel Sink, Part 4

Monday, December 21st, 2009

You must also keep in mind the size of the sink base cabinet and make sure the sink you purchase is not too large for that cabinet.  Sinks will usually have a recommended base cabinet size in the specifications.  Sinks also come in varying depths.  This is also a personal preference but be careful not to pick too shallow a sink as they have the tendency to splash water out of the sink.

You should also consider the finish.  Some have a shiny appearance while others have a brushed finish that hides scratches better.

If you consider all of the information we’ve provided, you will choose a stainless steel sink that works well for you and your lifestyle.

Contact Republic West for kitchen remodeling in AZ, including window and door replacement, custom cabinet re-facing, kitchen and bathroom remodeling and room additions.
